Transitional Pastors Trained and Ready
"Help, our church is without a pastor!" is a call received at the SCBO offices. Annually Mission Ohio offers a two-day training for Transitional Pastors. This year thirteen men completed the training May 14-15 hosted by the Greater Dayton Association of Baptists, and are now ready to respond to the call.
Transitional pastors do just what the name suggests, help guide a church through a viable transition between pastors. More intentional than an "interim preacher," the transitional pastor will provide spiritual leadership through the stages of transition, preparing the church for a new pastor. Participants were led to discover the purpose of a transitional pastor, the person leading transition, understanding the past, determining present reality, encouraging corporate prayer, and the best practices for churches in transition.
Duane Floro, Tim Binns, and Steve Hopkins facilitated the training. If your church is looking for a transitional pastor, contact the Bible Teaching/Leadership Resource Group at (614) 601-6820 or Steve Hopkins.
