The Chaplain Corps of Ohio DR is considered an individual unit just like all the other units. They will still deploy with other units for spiritual support, but will now deploy as a separate unit. Therefore, anyone may train as a chaplain even if they have never trained in Ohio DR before.

If you are new to Ohio Disaster Relief and you want to train as a chaplain, register for this training and complete all requirements as a new trainee. (ie all online courses with background check) Then attend the chaplain training.

     1:00-9:30 PM training. (Dinner Included)

      Saturday, Jan 15 - 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM (breakfast & lunch included)

8:00 AM Continental Breakfast
8:30 AM Welcome/Orientation
9:00 AM Unit Training
1:00 PM Lunch (Provided by DR Food Service Trainees)
2:00 PM Closing & Award Hat & ID

Training Process for ALL new Disaster Relief trainees.

Step 1: Register for training and pay fee.
Note: If you cancel within 7 days of the training event, your refund will be 50% as we have already run your background check. However, you may defer your registration to the next training date.  

Step 2: Complete the online course "DR101:Involving Southern Baptists In Disaster Relief" parts 1-4 and EV101 & EV102 BEFORE your training day. You will NOT be able to train if these course have not been completed.
Note: If you are cross-training you do not need to complete these courses again.

Step 3: Go to inperson training or train 'in the field'.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age (21 years of age for Child Care unit)

HOWEVER, starting in 2022 high school students, those having already completed the 8th grade, will be able to train with their parent, grandparent or legal guardian. More to come!
*Serving in Southern Baptist Disaster Relief requires active participation or active member of an Ohio Southern Baptist Church 

Unit training available for specific units determined by event. Check each registartion for which untis are training.

Training fees:
$40/person for new trainees
$20/person for cross-train

     Training fees are per person. We do not have a discount for couples training together due to the cost of the training.
