National Day of Prayer is NOT canceled or postponed!
While it will not look like it has in years past, the National Day of Prayer will be observed May 7, 2020. In homes, neighborhoods, cities, states, our nation, and the world, we're looking for creative plans and innovative ways to “Pray God’s Glory Across the Earth!”
Our friend Claude King, co-author of Experiencing God, has developed a simple prayer guide for families to pray together (see attachment below or go HERE for the family prayer guide).
The SBC Executive Committee has shared a prayer guide based on the 2020 Theme verse Habakkuk 2:14. See the attachment below or go HERE for the download.
Here are some suggestions for ways we can be faithful in these unprecedented days and challenges, faithful to pray for His glory to be known.
HOME
Using the NDP prayer guide, pray at noon. Step outside, and pray for your neighbors. Consider purchasing prayer guides to share with your neighbors and encourage them to pray ‘together’ at noon. (go HERE for a summary of the prayer guide.)
Purchase or create an NDP yard sign to let your neighbors know you are praying for them. Use sidewalk chalk to write prayers and scriptures for those on a walk.
Great idea from two girls in Sacramento CA (harvestprayer.com/a-simple-social-distancing-prayer-idea/): Place a “How can I pray for you?” sign on a table, with cards for people to leave their prayer requests for you to remember.
PRAYER DRIVE
Drive to a place that represents each of the ‘seven mountains:’ Church, Family, Education, Government, Business, Military, and Media and Entertainment. Pray for those who work there and those they serve. One church has scheduled ‘drive-thru’ prayer at the county fairgrounds; ‘yard signs,’ each with a prayer focus, will prompt those praying in their cars. A prayer guide could be handed through the window (with gloves and face mask for safety). Strict safe distancing should be observed at any such gathering. (go HERE for a summary of the prayer guide and HERE to order.)
NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER NATIONAL OBSERVANCE will be broadcast, streamed, and posted on several platforms, May 7, 8:00 pm – 10:00 pm (EDT) The National Day of Prayer website, Facebook Live, and Instagram, as well as some TV and radio options will be available.
