Mud Out Team Working in Panama City Florida 2018
From The Team Chaplains Point of View. Our goal is always to minister to both the seen and the unseen needs.
2 Corinthians 4:18 While we look not at the things which are seen for the things seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
As we minister to the temporary needs, the hearts are opened to allow us to minister to the needs which are eternal.
We stopped in Ozark Alabama for fuel and God blessed us with the opportunity to lead one of the cashiers to Christ. Once we arrived in Panama City I never saw one home nor business where one could look in any direction without seeing devastation.
On Monday morning we arrived at our first job which was an Historic home owned by an elderly couple. Two electricians arrived at the same time. After a couple of hours they finished their task and I was able to start a conversation with one of them. As I'm always looking for ways to be intentional, I asked if I might show him the Evange Cube and he answered yes. I proceeded to share the Evange Cube and discovered he was attending Church regularly, but had never made a profession of faith. When I drew the net and ask if he would like to accept Jesus by voicing with his mouth as described in Roman's 10:9. He said, "Let's do it." That young man was so enamored with the Evange Cube that I gave him an extra one that I had in my backpack. He had a nine year old boy and a fifteen year old daughter. He told me he couldn't wait to show it to his pastor.
So what is the value of a large Teddy Bear that has been thrown into the trash pile? Priceless is what I told the daughter who was having to make decisions regarding cleaning out her Mom's house. That Teddy Bear had taken on a special meaning after a lady stopped by and enquired if she could have it. When she got out to get it, I enquired if she attended Church anywhere and she said, "no, but I need to." I then asked permission to share the Evange Cube with her. Our team was blessed with another Salvation as she asked Jesus to forgive her sins and save her soul.
I had several opportunities to counsel with folks some for over an hour. There was a tremendous need for them to tell their story. Christians become discouraged just like everyone else, and it's important for them to talk through it.
