J.D. Greear: Call to National Day of Prayer and Fasting May 7
In my time with God over the past few weeks, I have continually found myself coming back to 2 Chronicles 7:14: "If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” Of course, that verse was given to ancient Israel, showing the heart of God for His people, and it’s meant a lot to me to read and meditate on God’s willingness to hear their cries for help in times of trouble. Jesus told us that if we ask anything in His name, He will hear us. We should take him at His word on that now more than ever before, desperately crying out to him in response to the current crisis that grips us and the world around us. — J.D. Greear, pastor The Summit Church, Raleigh-Durham, NC
