Donations Made to Ohio Southern Baptists Disaster Relief

The Lowe’s Hardware store made a limited time offer (no longer available) through the National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (NVOAD) and local state VOAD members to donate log splitters, front tine tillers, and trimmer mowers from select stores across the United States.

The Ohio Southern Baptists Disaster Relief (OhSBDR) is a longstanding member of the Ohio VOAD (OhVOAD) and made a request for several of the items. While we did not receive all items requested, we were blessed with a couple of log splitters, tine tiller, and trimmer mower. We have set these new items aside for use in our Chain Saw ministry. Pictures below show receipt of the donations. We estimate the value of these donated items to be approximately $3,500.

Lowes also supports SBDR by making a financial donation, through a one-time per year rebate, based on national annual sales. Our national SBDR organization has entered into agreement with not only Lowes but also Home Depot to receive rebates which benefits all of the SBDR ministries across the United States. We have been blessed by these funds as they assist our teams during responses and our states to improve their ability to respond. The rebates are used to assist with deployment expenses and as an aid to improving our equipment by purchasing ministry trailers, cleaning supplies and equipment, generators, shower units, etc.

These funds have especially been helpful to the northern or more frontier states. The agreement with Lowes is new and the rebate has not yet been realized, however the Home Depot has provided rebates over the last two years of approximately a half million dollars. Anyone who chooses to may enroll your credit/debit cards into these programs so your purchases will be added into the overall national total to determine our annual rebate.
