Chainsaw Group in Marion, South Caroline

A team of 11 chainsaw people spent one week in Marion, South Carolina.  The Blue Hat arrived early with the unit to be prepared for work when the rest of the team pulled in Monday afternoon.  There was only one man running the operation when they arrived.  He was spread thin.  He was not only the Incident Commander but he was going out with other disaster relief trained people in that area to get trees off neighbors and friends houses.  This was his community.  Ohio's Blue Hat arrived early and went out to assess jobs for his team to work on. After arriving they completed 11 jobs during the week and made 33 chaplaincy contacts.  All the work was appreciated by the community.  They were so glad to see the yellow shirts roll into town.  Many of the South Carolinan disaster relief trained people could not work because their own homes were under four foot of water.

During the same week a team of two went down to help the Incident Command with assessing and assigning jobs or whatever was required.  Their purpose was to relieve some of the pressure from the Incident Commander.  He was not only trying to clean up his community but he had to go to work in his civilian job.
