Central Baptist Church Seeking Lead Pastor

Central Baptist Church is prayerfully looking to call a Lead Pastor who meets the qualifications outlined in 1 Timothy 3: 1-7, Titus 1: 5-9, and 1 Peter 5: 1-4.  We are seeking a man who will teach and preach in accordance with the Baptist Faith and Message (2000 Doctrinal Statement of Faith) and lead our church in support of missions’ endeavors of the Southern Baptist Convention through collaborating with the cooperative program.  Our Lead Pastor will work in cooperation with a leadership team comprised of a plurality of elders (currently – 2) and deacons (currently – 4). 

In addition to a clear calling to pastoral ministry, Central Baptist Church is seeking a Lead Pastor who has completed some higher education at an accredited seminary or Bible college in preparation for ministry.  Experience in serving as a staff member of a church is preferred.  This position is a full-time salaried role with flexible office hours allowed (consistent with pastoral duties) and negotiable benefits.  

Central Baptist Church is in Marion, Ohio approximately 35 miles north of Columbus.  The city of Marion has an estimated population of 36,000 people.  CBC will be celebrating its 40th anniversary in July 2022.  We are an elder led, deacon served, congregationally accountable church that cooperates with the Southern Baptist Convention.  The average attendance for worship (pre-Covid) was 125-150 with a present average attendance of 90-100.  Our church ministers to a congregation that includes a wide age range as well as varied socioeconomic profile.  We exist to make disciple-makers who impact their neighborhoods and the nations for Jesus.

The Lead Pastor of Central Baptist Church is responsible for collaborating with the leadership team in pursuit of the strategy to know Jesus, grow in the knowledge of scripture, follow Jesus, and go empowered by the Holy Spirit.  This takes place primarily through preaching the Word, casting vision for the direction of the church, and identifying and developing leaders.
