Ohio Baptists have an incredible opportunity to support mission work right here in Ohio through the Ray Roberts Offering. This year we invite you and your church to partner with the SCBO in supporting the ministries of 'Church Planting/Revitalization' and 'Disaster Relief'. So join us to pray during the week of September 18-25, and give generously to strengthen the foundation of these crucial ministries in Ohio.
The Ray Roberts State Missions Offering is a fund supported by Ohio Southern Baptists and managed by the SCBO to further God's Kingdom in the state of Ohio. It is named after one of the earliest pioneers of Southern Baptist Cooperation in Ohio who also served as the first Executive Director of the SCBO.
Dr. Ray Roberts
Dr. Ray Roberts, a native of North Carolina, first visited Ohio in 1951. In July of 1952, Dr. Roberts began serving as a missionary in Ohio for the Home Mission Board, Kentucky Baptist Convention, and White Water Baptist Association. On January 8, 1954, the State Convention of Baptists in Ohio was organized under Dr. Roberts’ supervision - with thirty-nine churches representing ten thousand members. Roberts served the SCBO as Executive Secretary for twenty-five years, during which time the convention grew to include fourteen associations and 449 churches. Upon his retirement, the SCBO State Missions Offering was renamed the Ray Roberts State Missions Offering in his honor.
Churches and individuals can contribute financially to state missions any time, but one week of September is set aside each year to emphasize the importance of mission work in Ohio. Many churches around the state will take this opportunity to join together in prayer, to share stories and testimonies of God's continued work in Ohio, and to collect financial gifts in support of the Ray Roberts Offering.

Dear SCBO Pastor,
I want to make you aware of some changes coming in 2022 regarding the promotional materials for the Ray Roberts Offering which may have an impact on the resources your church will receive in the coming weeks. This year, an email and postal packet will be sent to each SCBO church in the first week of September. The package will include a cover letter from me, a sample Prayer Guide, and an offering envelope. Both the letter and email will direct churches back to this page on the SCBO website. By the 1st week of September, you will find a giving link, video testimonies, and a downloadable Prayer Guide.
At approximately the same time, offering envelopes will arrive in a separate package for those churches who have requested them. These materials can be used during or after the official prayer emphasis week of September 18-25, 2022. In addition, the SCBO will post daily prayer updates via social media platforms during that week.

I am pleased to announce this year that the proceeds of the offering will be distributed evenly between our Disaster Relief efforts and our Send Network Ohio church planting, replanting, and revitalization efforts. Therefore, 50% of the offering will benefit DR and the other 50% will help us start new churches and replant existing ones.
