Summer Camps Transition to "Online/Virtual" for 2020

Summer Camps Transition to "Online/Virtual" for 2020

After fervent prayer and careful deliberation, the Resource Team is postponing the 2020 Summer Camps and Super Summer.  Summer Camps and Super Summer leaders are working on an online-virtual or media alternate experience instead of an on-site presence for 2020.  Details are coming soon.

All projections of when Ohio citizens could begin to assemble in large numbers without the threat or possibility of the spread of COVID-19 fail to suggest much less guarantee a safe summer for camps at Seneca Lake and Super Summer.  For the welfare of campers: children, youth, and adult supervisors, the Resource Team chooses to err on the side of safety.

All registration deposits will be refunded.  This will be initiated by the State Convention of Baptists in Ohio without any request.

The State Convention of Baptists in Ohio organized as a state convention January 8, 1954 meeting in the Westside Baptist Church in Hamilton, Ohio.  Woman’s Missionary Union held the first camps at Seneca Lake July 16-30, 1954 for Royal Ambassadors, Girls in Auxiliary, and Young Woman’s Auxiliary.

From 1954 to 2020, the State Convention of Baptists have conducted Christian camps.  Super Summer began in 2003 and has continued every year training Christian young people to become leaders.

Both will continue this year even though the Coronavirus prevents onsite experiences.  Super Summer leaders and Seneca Lake Camp leaders will share details of this year’s online-virtual Super Summer and respective Seneca Lake Camps.

Thank you for your prayer support for this decision and the valuable ministry of Seneca Lake summer camps and Super Summer.  Your investment in the lives and futures of our children is far greater than the Covid-19 virus.  We can have a great experience for Seneca Lake camps and Super Summer this year through online media.  Let’s press toward that mark.
