Kevin EzellKevin EzellThis years State Evangelism Celebration, Momentum 2012, was a rousing success! More than 400 attendees showed up at Lifepoint Church Columbus on Tuesday March 20 for a day of worship, equipping, fellowship, and networking opportunities. Not only did the Lord bless in attendance that day, the City of Columbus also set a new historical weather record. The thermometer reached 84 degrees, Praise the Lord! That is by far much better than the blizzards we’ve had in February the past several years!

The scriptural reference for Momentum 2012 was Matthew 16:18 … “and I will build my church, and the forces of Hades will not overpower it” HCSB. Those attending experienced Christ’s building first hand as Travis Davenport (Pastor @ Covenant Church in Metro Columbus Association), baptized new believer Troy LeBarge. What a joy it was to see Troy’s conversion story via video and then to see him baptized!

The celebration messages were challenging, convicting, and encouraging. Kudos go out to Kevin Ezell, Ben Mandrell, Ed Litton, Jonathan Falwell, Lee Powell, and Thomas Hammond for a job well done. Special thanks go to Jennifer Kennedy Dean for leading our ladies luncheon and speaking on the subject of prayer! In addition, Momentum 2012 provided workshops in the ministry areas of worship, technology, media, men’s ministry, evangelism, church planting, and leadership. Thanks to our leaders David Wheeler and Ryan Jones (Liberty University), Nick Nye (Veritas Community Church), Shane Tucker and Ryan Bosler (Lifepoint Church), Phil Wing (Apex Community Church), and Thomas Hammond (Executive Committee, SBC). Messages are available through download by visiting our website at www.momentumconference2012.com/audio). Thanks also to Dwayne Lee (SCBO) and David Bickers (Urbancrest Baptist Church) for putting together the SCBO praise band and leading in worship.

This year, Momentum 2012 also featured a more casual atmosphere, multiple give-away items (even a new I-Pad3), and an introduction to promote the event through social media and direct e-mail. Interestingly, communication connections concerning Momentum 2012 (e-mail, website, Twitter, and Facebook) totaled more than 181,000 “impressions” for the day! Shout outs to Brian Frye, Shane Tucker, and Ben Andrews for making that happen! And thanks to all of our attendees that got involved in enhancing the event through social media!

Most importantly a special “thank you” goes out to Lifepoint Church Pastor Dean Fulks and his Lifepoint team. Their assistance in hosting and serving in the event was more valuable than words can express! The event would not have been as successful without their direction, their dedication to detail, and their servant spirits! Thanks dear friends!

In conclusion, let me share a couple closing thoughts about Momentum 2012. First, moving the event to March and making it a one - day event proved to be a very valuable suggestion. We will keep this format for the foreseeable future. Second, many kind words were expressed to me concerning the personal feel of having the event in a church and in a central location. Finally, most everyone expressed they’re affirmations to me that the celebration should continue to be offered. Therefore, with that in mind, why not make plans now to attend next year’s event, Momentum 2013, at Lifepoint Church Columbus on Tuesday March 19. Information about Momentum 2013 will be available beginning July 1, 2012 at www.momentumconference2013.com. Until then B bold, B blessed, and don’t forget ………. There Is Victory In Jesus!
