Homegoing of Retired Pastor Warren Baker
Pastor Warren Baker of Steubenville, Ohio went home to be with our Lord April 22, 2011. He was born July 3, 1923 to Ward and Lena Davis Baker in Sardis, West Virginia.
Brother Warren became the pastor of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church (Muskingum Valley Association) in August 1975 and served faithfully until December 1982. There were only a handful of members meeting in the annex building when he came. When he retired, a strong membership and a beautiful building were evidence of his effective pastoral leadership. Members affirm that had he not listened to the Lord and followed the leadership of the Holy Spirit Pleasant Hill Baptist Church possibly would not be in existence today.
Pastor Baker was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a son, a sister, and brothers. He is survived by a daughter, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers, sisters, and a number of friends who are grateful for his ministry.
Viewing is Monday April 25 from 2:00 P. M. to 4:00 P.M. and from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Steel and Wolfe Funeral Home 380 Penco Road in Weirton, West Virginia. The Funeral is scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Tuesday April 26 at the Evangel Baptist Church 204 Old Colliers Way in Weirton, West Virginia. A viewing will precede the funeral from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.
